Isobel was born in 1958 at Larimpa and grew
up in Papunya where she attended school. She also went to Yirara College in
Alice Springs and trained as a Health Care Worker gaining Certificates 1 and
11.
Isobel worked at the clinic and
Women’s Centre (which is now the Aged Care Facility) in Papunya.
Isobel is of Amnatyerre descent on
her father, John Gorey’s side.
Isobel started painting in 2006,
when Professor Vivien Johnson, CoFA, University of NSW, organised a print
making workshop followed by an exhibition in 2007.
Isobel started painting at Papunya
Tjupi Arts after the centre opened in Papunya in October 2007.
Isobel displays exceptional talent. Her work is intricate and beautifully composed.
